Take a look at one of our latest launches for the ex-military community.

Figures from The Royal British Legion show that 140,000 veterans are unemployed at any given time*, which is only set to increase because of the pandemic.

But this new, specialist jobs platform, JobOppO, aims to combat this figure by connecting them with businesses who are looking for the sought-after skills that many ex-military personnel can supply.

Founded by an Ex-Military man himself, Kayam Iqbal first came to us in 2011 to assist with the setup of his new business after being medically discharged following his last tour of Afghanistan.

When his ex-military recruitment business was born in 2012, he also went on to set up the OppO Foundation, which aims to give back to British Veterans and their families.

Now with its relaunch in 2020, the business has since seen a well-earned response with Iceland, KFC and Britvic being some of the many well-known brands already set up to work with them and it is a project Recruitive feel particularly privileged to work on.

Chris Morris, Sales & Operations Director at JobOppO, said: “The transition from military life to civilian life is not an easy one. Settling into a 9-5 after serving your country can be daunting, to say the least.

“But it doesn’t have to be this way. There are many businesses who recognise the unique skill set and expertise ex-military personnel have to offer.

“JobOppO is unique in a number of ways, and we are so much more than a traditional portal to source jobs.

“We want to provide a members-only community, connecting British Veterans directly to job adverts listed by Global companies and SMEs who have a vested interest in sourcing, hiring, and supporting ex-military in the UK, thereby cutting out the middleman. “

One member of the Ex-military community is also particularly in favour of this business.

Motivational speaker, Dave Watson, lost his legs and most of his right arm after stepping on an IED in Helmand Province and said, “I support JobOppO because it is helping the Ex-Military community get to where they want to be.

“I know how hard it is coming out of the Military, especially if the Military was the first place you went to straight from school. When you leave the Military, you don’t know anything else. It is hard to get back into civilian life.”
